As part of the Aluminium Federation's commitment to Education, we are able to offer Universities and other tertiary education centres and professional institutes, Aluminium lectures at undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
The lectures are delivered by Dr. David A. Harris, CEng, FIMMM.

As a student, David Harris was sponsored through University by a major Aluminium company.
He graduated with an Honours degree and PhD. He spent three years as a University lecturer, teaching Materials Science to engineering undergraduates, before joining Alcan Australia as Technical Manager for Rolled and Ingot Products Division. Returning to the UK, he ran the Association of Light Alloy Refiners organisation and then, for some twenty years, was CEO of Aluminium Federation.
As an experienced University lecturer, these lectures are given with academic rigour, covering very practical aspects, and with a good deal of humour. Since these lectures started five years ago, David Harris is now a visiting lecturer at 15 UK Universities. The menu for the lectures cover Aluminium production and fabrication, all of the end uses, building and construction, transport and packaging, sustainability of Aluminium, design, recycling and environmental aspects. Most of the lectures are given to mechanical engineers, material scientists, environmentalists, designers and architects.
Normally the lecture is for two hours, or it can be tailored to other time slots as required.
There is no charge to the University or College. All costs are met by the Aluminium Federation.
Please contact Richard Mahoney at ALFED on 0121 601 6361 ( r_mahoney@alfed.org.uk ) to discuss your requirements.
